UPDATE for this year
The Travellers’ Tales Group meets in the Black Bull, Gartmore, on the last Friday of the month, between September and April. Meetings start at 2:00 p.m. and tea, coffee and home baking is served. There is a cost of £3 for each meeting.
This year, our season begins on Friday 26th September. Ashley Coombes will give the first presentation “A Family Reunion on the Roof of the World”. Ashley was able to meet up with his son, Robbie, in the very east of Europe.
On 31st October, Paul Prescott will entertain us with his “Confessions of a European Wanderer”. Paul is a life-long traveller, and has visited almost every country in Europe. He has many stories to tell.
In November, on 28th, Tim Tindle will speak about his recent cycling adventure, “The Pedalling Pensioners – from the Trossachs to Cape Wrath”. Tim has spoken in past sessions very entertainingly about his passion for cycling. This recent trip was raising money for charity, so it will be interesting to hear how he succeeded.
30th January, 2026, brings us Paul Machin with his travels – and photographs – of Bangladesh. Paul is an experienced photographer and this will give an insight into a fascinating country.
On 27th February, June Waley will recount her travels in West Papua. Another intriguing place to hear of and enjoy.
Harry Phillips has spent some of his professional life working in the Far East and, on 27th March, he will talk about “A Scottish Architect’s Experience of China”.
We finish the season with our seasoned speaker, Peter Ireland, who will tell us about his recent travels to “Albania”. We have had several fascinating descriptions of his travels from Peter and this will end our year in a splendid way.
We look forward to welcoming you to the group for a chance to see excellent presentations on countries you might go on to visit.
