UPDATE for Autumn 2024
We meet in Dunblane at "Ellerslie" on Keir Street, once a month. Due to the number of people wishing to attend, there will be two classes, one in the morning (from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon) and one in the afternoon (from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.).
There are three meetings planned for the Autumn:
- Thursday 24th October
- Thursday 28th November
- Thursday 19th December
The classes are small and informal, run on the basis of tutorials with wide-ranging topics to offer something of interest to everyone and a break for light refreshments.
A typical session may look at some common types of rock, a couple of minerals and, perhaps, a fossil - all with relevant specimens to pass round and examine. Occasionally, we look at land forms or geomorphology. Jim is happy to respond to any request for a particular subject and members are encouraged to bring along geological specimens of interest for identification.
We usually feature one major topic with notes, diagrams and handouts. (For example, last year we looked at the shale industry in Central Scotland.) For more details, contact Jim by clicking on his name below (as coordinator) and completing the form that appears, or by using the telephone if you prefer.
