Dr Isobel Madden will give a talk on 'A Family History in a Quilt'.
Isobel writes:
I have been quilting for some years now but, even before I began this fascinating hobby, I was always intrigued by a 19th century quilt that belonged to my grandmother.
It was stored in her uncle’s sea chest - another curious legacy. When I researched the origins of the sea chest and the quilt and how they came to her, I discovered the story of my family and an interesting coincidence that linked my father and mother, even before they met in the Middle East in World War 2.
This story has allowed me to delve into some fascinating history, which I will share in my talk.
